Seal up any cracks and holes on the inside and outside of your home including areas where utilities and pipes enter your home.

Screen vents and openings to chimneys.

Keep tree branches and shrubbery well trimmed and away from the house.

Keep basements, attics, and crawl spaces well ventilated and dry.

Store garbage in sealed containers and dispose of it regularly.

 Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the house and 5 inches off the ground.

Finally, a trained pest control technician should be called in to eliminate the immediate pest population, while also conducting a visual inspection to detect any areas where mechanical control can be applied.
